Your Daily Kitty Snuggles Down Warm

  1. I was thinking this weekend about how frustrating snow shovelling must be back east, knowing that in a few days the snow will melt anyway. It must be maddening knowing that it must be done, but that in a week no one will see the nice neat piles and clean paths.
Here we have to shovel because we have two months until melting time begins.
I was reading a Washington Post report that “President Obama emerged from the White House today” and was afraid the next line would be that he saw his shadow and there would be six more weeks of winter. (There I mean, only six more weeks of winter here would be a huge blessing).
Stay safe and warm, eat soup.

  2. Re: I can’t support Hillary because she doesn’t agree with everything I think is right and anyway she is only the lesser of two evils (Trump/Cruz I suppose)
Well then, If that is what you believe, support less evil, don’t sit home. What kind of monster wouldn’t want less evil?

    1. Oh god, don’t get me started. Ideological purity only works for those that know they won’t be hurt by the alternative and who doesn’t give a crap for anyone else.

Which reminds me: I was watching television last night and all the Republican candidate commercials stressed how the candidate would “keep us safe.” Safe from what?? If we look at crime statistics, we are at a historical low for violent crime. If the fear is terrorism, the most likely perpetrators are white “nationalist” militia types, but less than nothing is proposed about that.

If we’re going to talk about “keeping us safe”, it seems like they plan to make things decidedly worse for any measure of safety that I care about: not getting summarily shot by a cop or by one of my fellow Americans who thinks all brown people are suspicious, one of my best friends in the military doing yet another tour in Iraq or Afghanistan, burning the planet down, poisoning our drinking water, etc, etc.

      1. Honestly I think that the “keep us safe” may come from a place of “my daddy is a scary a** MF who can kick your daddy’s a**!” feelings. Because objectively that statement has no connection to the facts.

        1. It makes no sense to me. It would be one thing if we were France in the run up to WWII and had real concerns about being invaded. We’re trying to select a President, not someone for a fantasy MMA league. Sigh.
