The big twist on Saturday left the Doctor disabled. So what’s next week’s episode entail? Being asked to do something he no longer can.
Last week’s big twist ending to our first five stand alone episodes of Doctor Who left the 12th Doctor unable to see anymore, after his trip through space sans helmet. Nardole thought he had solved the Doctor’s eyesight problem–and Bill thinks it’s also been solved. But as the Doctor revealed to Nardole he was simply pretending. He’s blind as a bat., and for all we know, he may remain that way until he regenerates.
So what does this week’s episode entail? Oh, only a plot where the Doctor has been asked to read something. Naturally. In fact, the entire episode revolves around a library.
Check out the synopsis for this coming week:
In the Haereticum – the Vatican’s secret library of blasphemy – there is an ancient book known only as The Veritas. Throughout history, anyone who has ever read it has immediately taken their own life. Now a new translation is online, and the danger is spreading. The Vatican appeals to the Doctor. Will he read The Veritas? But can even the Doctor survive the ultimate truth?
How can he read it? Does this mean the Doctor will get his eyesight back? Will he do something foolish, like open the Vault and have Missy read it for him? Will he admit the truth to Bill and have Bill read it to him? (I mean, he may *think* he’s keeping this from Bill, but we all know better.)
Let’s check out the trailer.
There also a shorter, freakier trailer that’s floating around on BBC One, which shows Bill in a really awesome outfit.
Doctor Who shifts in time again this week in the UK. Last week it shifted up five minutes from the usual time of 7:20p to 7:15 because of Eurovision. This week it shifts backward, to air on BBC One at 7:25pm BST. As always, the US airing remains constant at 9pm EST on BBC America.
